“Today’s payment of €2.76 billion is made possible by Romania’s implementation of 49 targets covering key reforms in the areas of green and digital transition,” European authorities said.
The EC communiqué also confirms that our country has also proposed reforms to improve the implementation of its public policies, promote tourism and culture, develop human resources in the health sector, improve tax collection and pension stability, modernize infrastructure and the education system, and strengthening the independence of the judiciary and the fight against corruption.
Romania’s overall recovery and resilience plan will be financed with more than €29 billion in grants and loans. Payment amounts to Member States are published in the Recovery and Resilience Scoreboard. Romania has already received a total pre-financing payment of EUR 3.7 billion in December 2021 and January 2022 and EUR 2.6 billion in October 2022 following the fulfillment of the 21 milestones and targets included in the first payment request.
The reaction of Minister Bolos:
I said on September 1 that by the end of this month, the money related to payment request II of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan should be in the country. Today, more than 2.7 billion euros have been deposited into Romania’s accounts.
Together with pre-financing and the first tranche of the PNRR, our country has so far benefited from cumulative disbursements almost within the limits of this instrument.
This is an important achievement. The submission of this request was the result of the combined efforts of all the ministries involved and the Prime Minister at the time, Mr. Nicolae Ionel Chuke. Even though we have a complicated #PNRR and we had to send more than 3000 documents for this request alone, Romania was one of the first EU countries that managed to do the due diligence for the second cash tranche.
You constantly hear me emphasize that we must complete the reforms we have begun and not lose a single cent due to us. Let us never forget that the PNRR is a large project with direct and indirect impact on almost all areas, on the success of which depends the recovery and development of the economy, the stability and sustainability of the budget, as well as the effectiveness of the administrative process.
If we complete the key aspects we have taken, it will mean stimulating the economy and generating a reliable multiplier effect for investments in #highway, railway infrastructure, schools, #hospital infrastructure and everything that means improving the quality of life for Romanians, Marcel Bolosh said in the prison
