Social platform X, formerly known as Twitter, is the biggest source of disinformation among major online platforms, European Commission Vice President Vera Jourova said on Tuesday.
The official said this during a meeting with the signatories of the Code of Best Practices on Disinformation, which include such big players as Facebook, Google, YouTube, TikTok and LinkedIn, Kyiv Independent reports.
Signatories to the Code have committed to combating misinformation online by cooperating with fact-checkers, ensuring advertising transparency, and demonetizing misinformation content, among other methods.
Platform X, formerly Twitter, divested its stake in Cod in May this year, months after it was acquired by billionaire Elon Musk.
Zhurova stated that, compared to the signatories of the Code, X has the highest percentage of disinformation messages.
She noted that the threat of Russian disinformation, in particular, has increased since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
