​The government is considering holding a special meeting on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. to discuss the first reading of the bill on raising fees and taxes presented by the Ministry of Finance this morning, government sources told HotNews.ro. The meeting is not on the prime minister’s official agenda precisely because the decision will be made tomorrow, sources said.

  • “From what is known at the moment, an extraordinary meeting of the government may take place at 5:00 p.m., followed by a press conference by the Minister of Finance, Marcel Bolos.” This was also stated by government sources for HotNews.ro.

According to the official agenda announced by the government, Prime Minister Marcel Çolaku will hold a consultative meeting on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. with non-governmental organizations.

At 1:00 p.m., he will hold a meeting with representatives of the Tripartite National Council of Social Dialogue.

At 3:30 p.m., the Prime Minister will receive the team that represented Romania at the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Germany, at the Victoria Palace.

The Ministry of Finance officially published on Tuesday a package of fiscal measures, with which Prime Minister Marcel Čolaku will go to parliament to take responsibility.

How micro-enterprises will be taxed

Micro-enterprises will be charged the following fees:

• 1%, for micro-enterprises whose income does not exceed 60,000 euros

• 3% for micro-enterprises that:

1. earns more than 60,000 euros; or

2. carries out activities, main or auxiliary, corresponding to CAEN codes: 5821 – Publishing of computer games, 5829 – Publishing of other software products, 6201 – Creation of custom software (customer-oriented software), 6209 – Other information- technology services activities, 5510 – Hotels and other similar accommodation facilities, 5520 – Leisure and short-term accommodation facilities, 5530 – Caravan parks, campsites and campsites, 5590 – Other accommodation services, 5610 – Restaurants, 5621 – Event catering , 5629 – Other food services, n. e. n. e., 5630 – Bars and other beverage service activities, 6910 – Legal activities – only for professional companies with legal entity status, established by lawyers in accordance with the law, 8621 – Activities of general medical care, 8622 – Activities of specialized medical care, 8623 – Activities of dental care, 8690 – Other activities related to human health.

The above-mentioned rates of income tax for micro-enterprises are regulated from January 1, 2024.

IT specialists will pay income tax on amounts over 10,000 lei / It will be valid until 2028

For IT scientists, it is proposed to limit the application of the tax benefit to December 31, 2028 inclusive, similar to the period provided for the tax benefits provided for construction, agriculture and food industry, and also to introduce a limit up to which exemption from paying income tax is granted, in accordance with level of 10,000 lei inclusive.

Also, IT scientists will be able to request an exemption from paying the contribution to the second level of pensions.
