Fruits and vegetables fell the most: the average price of plums fell by 49%, grapes by 47%, and tomatoes, onions, yellow peppers, carrots and potatoes fell by 31% to 37% in August 2023 compared to June 2023.

From the dairy category, the average price of Telemea cheese is lower by 16.3%, yogurt by 10.5%, milk by 6.2%. It should be noted that milk is still subject to the voluntary agreement to reduce the price by 20%, which has been in effect since May, data from the Competition Council also show.

Prices for other consumer basket products such as flour, bread, butter, oil, eggs and sugar also fell during August.

As for chicken and pork, in August it became cheaper compared to June, with the exception of leg with bone, the price of which increased slightly, by 2%.

“In the analyzes conducted during August, we found that prices for basic food products have decreased in most stores. We found that the average prices of some products gradually decreased, here we are talking about yogurt, corn, pork, onions, carrots, peppers, plums and grapes, but there are also products such as bread, flour, eggs for which prices fluctuated, however, they were lower than the average price in June,” said Bohdan Chiritsoyu, president of the Competition Council.

On August 1, 2023, the Government’s Emergency Decree came into force, establishing temporary measures to combat the excessive price increase of 14 main food groups: bread, milk, cheeses, yogurts, flour, sorghum, eggs, sunflower oil. , fresh chicken, fresh pork, fresh vegetables in bulk, fresh fruit in bulk, fresh potatoes in bulk and sugar.
