Just a few days after its launch, Threads, the social network that the Meta Group sees as a competitor to Twitter, is approaching the 100 million user mark, which is not bad when you consider that Threads is not available in the EU. .

In the first two hours, Threads registered two million users, seven hours later there were 10 million, and 12 hours later the 30 million mark was exceeded. Two days after launch, there were 70 million accounts, but very few had posted anything.

The network launched Wednesday night and has grown rapidly, largely because it’s closely tied to Instagram (you must have an Instagram account to log into Threads), and Instagram, which has more than two billion users, is a strong launch pad for Threads.

Meta launched Threads amid dissatisfaction with Twitter, a network Elon Musk has made a number of radical changes during his nine months at the helm.

The Threads app is not available in Europe because Meta wants to take steps to comply with European DSA and DMA regulations, which are much stricter than US regulations.
