​After the modernization of the 800 Bucharest-Constanța highway, the lines from Ciulnița and Fetești stations remained unchanged, and train speeds were reduced. CFR Infrastructura now reports that preparatory work has begun to open construction sites for the modernization of lines, platforms and railway structures at these two stations.

CFR SA announces that it is starting to upgrade the lines from Fetești and Ciulnița stations to a speed of 160 km/h. New rails with concrete sleepers will be installed, installations will be changed and pedestrian paths will be built, as well as tunnels. Intermediate platforms will also be built and new lights will be installed.

The Bucharest-Constanța highway was renovated between 2009 and 2014, but these two stations were not included and look miserable, with speed limits of 70-90 km/h.

What CFR SA says

Preparatory work has begun for the opening of construction sites for the modernization of lines, platforms and railway structures at Feteşti and Chulnica stations, works financed from non-refundable funds and from the state budget, in the amount of 309 million lei, excluding VAT.

Preparatory work consists in the development of the territory, the storage of track materials, the creation of technological platforms, the disconnection of contact lines associated with the lines that are part of the first stage of the modernization program (lines of reception and dispatch of freight trains, shunting lines or only control rooms) and dismantling contact network.

The builder has structured the schedule of work on the modernization of the railway infrastructure and superstructure at 2 stations in the execution stages so as not to affect the schedule of passenger trains in the summer season, so the first lines on which work begins are shunting lines, departure lines or reception-departure lines freight trains, namely:

Feteşti Station

→ lines L11, L12 and 1T – 3T, for disconnecting contact lines, lines L8 – L10 and wire II Fetești – Movila, for dismantling the contact network.

Ciulnița station

→ lines L4, L5 and L7 – L10, for the installation of contact lines, currently non-electrified lines.
