Ukraine updates: Kiev ‘destroying the enemy’ says Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Tuesday that his country’s forces were “actively destroying the enemy”.
In his evening speech, Zelenskyy said forces on the country’s eastern and southern flanks were “physically clearing Ukraine”.
“A defense against terror means destroying terrorists. And it is a guarantee that the evil state will never have the opportunity to bring evil to Ukraine.”
Kiev launched a long-awaited counter-offensive almost two weeks ago. While initially low-key about the launch, Zelenskyy has been addressing his military’s moves more recently.
Also on Tuesday, Russian forces hit military and infrastructure targets in Kiev and western areas, far from the front lines.
Zelenskyy said Russian drones had been attacking Kiev for more than four hours.
Meanwhile, Russian officials said Ukrainian forces attacked a Russian-controlled town in the southern region of Kherson with drones. They said one woman was killed and four civilians were wounded in the attack.
