Humanity is at a stage in its existence where it faces the specter of a singularity in its own evolution, which some experts predict will happen around 2040, said Mugur Iserescu, head of the National Bank of Romania.
“It’s about mixing our species with nanotechnology and artificial intelligence. It feels as if we got into the pages of a science fiction book, although we are already in reality in a scale of 1/1. What will the world be like in 2040?” he asked.
According to him, “continuity is increasingly difficult to understand, we are on the verge of standing where everything could be different, our mind could work differently.”
“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with critical thinking, with evaluating failures to determine the steps that need to be taken to correct the course of evolution. I would like to add that I do not give personalized criticism at all,” Iserescu said.
- “I don’t like – and I pray no one does – the chatter too much in public debate. And inflation disqualifies ridicule.
