Registrations of new electric vehicles in Romania recorded impressive growth in May thanks to the Rabla program, which launched at the end of March. With volume almost double the previous year, 100% battery-powered cars surpassed the 10% threshold of the total new car market for the first time in May and registered a 9.1% share in the first five months of the year, according to Profit.ro , writes news.ro.
According to data analyzed by Profit.ro, the electric passenger car market in Romania registered 1,402 new electric passenger cars in May, a 90% increase from just 739 registered a year ago.
The main reason is the start of the Rabla program and a gap of about one month compared to the previous year, against the background of the recovery from the semiconductor crisis, a situation that led to a very large supply of cars from manufacturers, for orders. made in the previous months and which were just waiting for approval from Rabla.
Compared to May 2022, when the only star was the Dacia Spring and there were almost no imported models (the best-selling electric imported models were the Hyundai Kona, the VW e-Up and the Tesla Model 3, but in very small volumes), this year saw large deliveries of Model Y (118 units), Model 3 (114 units), both from Tesla, and Renault Megane E-Tech (97 units).
In the ranking of the month, VW e-Up, VW ID.3, Hyundai Kona and VW ID.4 were also in the following places.
