More than 51,000 foreigners, citizens of other countries of the world, live in Romania, according to the 2022 census data published by the INS. Of them, slightly more than 30,000 men and about 20,000 women.

According to official statistics, 61 persons declared themselves stateless.

Countries with the largest diaspora in Romania

The Republic of Moldova is the country with the largest diaspora in Romania (more than 5,700 Moldovan citizens live here), followed by Hungary (5,248 Hungarian citizens) and Italy (5,193 Italian diaspora citizens).

The German diaspora is in fourth place, followed by the Syrian diaspora.
