
Yannis Paraskis is the new president of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE). He was elected by the board of directors formed during the election of the annual regular general meeting of SETE, which was convened on Wednesday. He is taking over the leadership of the representative body of Greek tourism at a critical juncture as Greece moves towards a new historical record for arrivals and travel revenue from abroad this year, and while the sustainability of tourism activities and their impact on society and the environment were reduced to a matter of first priority.
Giannis Paraskis has been CEO of Athens International Airport SA (IAA) since 2007 and Deputy CEO from 2001-2007. He is an economic engineer (Dipl. Wirtschaftsingenieur) and holds a PhD in business studies from the University of Hamburg. He joined the AIA staff after completing an international course at the university and as a business consultant with AT Kearney and Deloitte. He participates as a board member in companies, academic institutions and collective representative organizations in Greece and abroad, including Airports Council World (ACI World President in the period 2011-2013), Airports Council of Europe (ACI EUROPE-President in the period 2007- 2009) Association of Greek Tourism Companies (Deputy Secretary General) of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. IOBE and President of the Hellenic Council of the Initiative for Sustainable Markets (Terra Carta). In 2015, he was honored by the international aviation community with their highest award, “CAPA Airport Executive of the Year”.
Also during the elections, G. Evtikhis Vasilakis, Agapi Sbokou, Grigoris Tassios, Panagiotis Tokouzis, Lysandros Tsilidis and Kallinikos Kallinikos were elected Vice-Chairmen of the Board of Directors. Emmanuel Yiannoulis was elected Vice President of Finance, Giorgos Vernikos as General Secretary, and Fotis Kokotos as Deputy Secretary General.
Also elected as members of the Board of Directors were G. Konstantinos Alexopoulos, Philippos Venetopoulos, Charalambos Voulgaris, Konstantinos Zikos, Maria Theofanopoulou, Achilleas Konstantinopoulos, Athenagoras Konstantinides, George Kivernitis, Chloe Laskaridis, Aris Maroulis, Stavros Mitsis, Michalis Sakellis, Andreas Stylianopoulos and honorary members of the Mr. Fokion Caravias and Aris Marinis.
