It ranges from subsidies to tax and other benefits, and depending on its size business and the area where the business plan is developed gives assistance from 25% to 75%. The total budget of the scheme under consideration for 2023 is 150 million euros, of which 75 million euros relate to tax incentives and are financed from the state investment budget Ministry of Development and Investment.

The corresponding second proclamation of the regime “Strengthening investment in tourism” Development Law 4887/2022 was published on Friday and the application period starts on June 12 and ends on October 13, 2023. It provides, among other things, support for the creation, expansion, modernization of an integrated form hotel rooms and campsites in order to improve the quality of the tourist product.

The investment plans are backed by incentives in the form of grants (for small businesses as well as medium-sized businesses in Rhodope, Evros and Xanthi), tax exemptions, leasing subsidies and cost subsidies for jobs created for other businesses.

Supported costs will relate to construction sites, as well as the configuration of the surrounding area, the purchase and installation of new modern hotel equipment, technical and special facilities, the implementation of quality control systems, the acquisition of know-how licenses and consultant fees, while for the first time included the cost of participation of SMEs in trade fairs and staff training costs.

The maximum amount of assistance is set at 3 million for small businesses and 5 million for medium and large businesses. The provisions of the regime cover investment projects with a budget of 100,000 and above, with maximum interest, based on the regional aid card.

Increased rates of assistance are provided for investment projects implemented in mountainous areas or in areas located at a distance of thirty kilometers from the border, as well as on islands with a population of less than three thousand one hundred (3,100) inhabitants, in areas affected by natural disasters, in accordance with the relevant decision of the Government’s State Assistance Committee, but also in buildings categorized as conservation. It is worth emphasizing that investments in Mykonos and Santorini (with the exception of northeastern Thirassia) are excluded from the assistance of this regime, since these areas are very developed for tourism.
