EFKA: Reimbursement of contributions up to EUR 13,739

Up to 13,739 euros will be received by 6,810 insured professionals at EFKA as reimbursement of contributions. In total, the institution today must credit the accounts of the first beneficiaries, salaried lawyers, salaried engineers, and private and public health workers with private law employment relationships, an amount of 20.3 million euros. This is the first in a series of payments in the amount of 20,334,737.50 euros regarding the return of overpaid contributions, supplementary insurance and social security offices for 2019 and 2020 to thousands of professionals.

In particular, this applies to paid mandate lawyers from the private sector and NPID, full-time engineers, and private and public sector medical professionals with private law employment relationships who:

– submitted an application, through the appropriate electronic service, before 02/05/2023,

– not have any debt to e-EFKA, certified in KEAO and

– were employed during the specified period with the employer.

In this first payment, the maximum refundable amount that will be credited to the bank accounts of 6,810 beneficiaries is 13,738.61 euros.

The competent e-EFKA services continue to process applications from other categories of beneficiaries, as well as those submitted from 03/05/2023 and later, in order to award the corresponding amounts in the same order in the subsequent payment.

It should be noted that after many years of delay, the corresponding platform was opened in mid-April for filing applications for the return of overpaid fees for 2019 and 2020 from 23 thousand full-time lawyers, full-time engineers and doctors. The platform is available exclusively to interested parties through the e-EFKA website (https://www.efka.gov.gr) using Taxisnet codes and the AMKA declaration.

These are sums of several million euros imposed and collected by e-EFKA from thousands of in-house lawyers, as well as engineers and medical professionals, as well as from its employers.

And this is because from 01.01.2019 the amounts of additional insurance and social contributions were calculated on the basis of the minimum basic wage of 586.08 euros, which was set at 650 euros from 1.02.2019. These provisions were again modified by Law 4670/2020 and the premiums were defined in insurance categories (fixed amounts) at the choice of the policyholder with the participation of the principal as a percentage of one second of them. Despite the amendments, EFKA, as the entity managing detailed periodic reports and the entity collecting premiums, until recently did not amend the relevant circulars or computerized system, as a result of which the collection of premiums in excess of those established by law will continue until 2020 .

The relevant stakeholder application platform will remain open until 12/31/2023, and until the processing at FECA is completed, and on a periodic basis, the amount of overpaid contributions for 2019-2020. be returned to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries assigned to them.

Be careful. If there is a confirmed debt to EFKA, a set-off will be made and only if there is a balance, it will be returned.
