Elon Musk Says New Twitter CEO Has Been Hired
Elon Musk announced on Thursday that he has found a replacement to become the new CEO of Twitter.
“Excited to announce that I have hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will start in approximately 6 weeks!” Musk tweeted. “My role will transition to being Executive Chairman and CTO, overseeing products, software and system operators.”
Musk became owner and chief executive of Twitter in late October. He tweeted in December that he would step down as CEO “as soon as he finds someone foolish enough to take the job”.
Twitter Inc. stocks closed higher on Thursday on Musk’s announcements. Investors are concerned that Musk’s active management of Twitter has diverted their attention from his other key businesses – electric car company Tesla and space exploration company SpaceX.
How did Musk manage Twitter as CEO?
The passage of the South African billionaire at the head of Twitter was characterized as chaotic.
Musk fired much of the company’s staff, including then-CEO Parag Agrawal, following its takeover. He also vowed to loosen moderation guidelines, prompting criticism that the platform is becoming a hub for hate speech and misinformation.
