Meanwhile, Prime Minister K. Mitsotakis announced the day before yesterday about incentives that lead to further reductions in ENFIA. In particular, those who insure their homes will receive an additional ENFIA discount of 10%.
For example, if a taxpayer pays €500 to ENFIA, they will receive a €50 rebate next year. According to the latest data, only 17% of homes are insured, and this is mainly the result of the contractual obligations of the owners, since they have a valid mortgage. In fact, the state currently receives a 15 percent tax on insurance premiums, which means that with an increase in insured houses, budget revenues will also increase significantly, which means that the provision of benefits will be covered by increased revenues.
In total, according to ELSTAT, there are 6,371,901 residences in our country, of which only 1,074,053 are insured (EAEE data as of the end of 2017). If 200,000 new homes are insured with an average annual premium of 155 euros, then state budget revenues will approach 10 million euros only from insurance premiums and income tax of insurance companies, not counting additional benefits for the economy, the market and society as a whole.
