Demand for a holiday home in the Halkidiki region is growing. Buyers are still mainly foreign nationals, mainly from the Balkan countries, while Greeks are still in a state of waiting due to the financial difficulties they face in everyday life.

According to the president of the Association of Real Estate Agents of Halkidiki, Grigoris Stivahtaris, “people from the Balkans are very interested in buying a holiday home in Halkidiki. As for the interest of Balkans and Greeks in buying real estate, the corresponding percentage is 65% and 35%, respectively. We conclude 70% of contracts with buyers from Bulgaria, Serbia, Albania, North Macedonia and Romania. If we talk about prices, the average price of the houses they buy is between 50,000 and 80,000 euros,” says Stivachtaris.

Regarding the area chosen by the buyers, the president of the Halkidiki Association of Realtors states that “mostly they choose houses located in Potidai and from Kalikratia down on the first arm of the Halkidiki peninsula. The second arm is bought in Nikita and from Metamorfos down, but of course there is interest in the third arm of the peninsula. As a rule, it is bought throughout the territory of Halkidiki, but mainly preference is given to the first shoulder. And the reason is that there are many houses for sale.” As for prices, Stivahtaris notes that “the price varies depending on the area, location, square meters of real estate. As a rule, houses are bought according to the budget. Purchased houses are used both for recreation and tourist exploitation,” says the president of the Association of Real Estate Agents in Halkidiki. (Source: Rador / THESSECONOMY.GR)
