According to the tender documentation, the land plot is provided for the construction of a hotel by the selected investor, and the concession period is set for 49 years with the right to extend for another 49 years.

The short list of candidates drawn up by the competent committee of the Church of Greece, conducting the competition, included Electra Hotels, which also has a flagship hotel in its capital, Electra Palace, in its portfolio. The Mitsi Hotel Group has also expressed interest in the competition and is taking part in it. According to “K”, the Electra Hotels investment plan provides for the construction of an 11-storey hotel with a capacity of 165 luxury rooms and a total built-up area of ​​6500 sq. It is expected that after the deadline for submission of mandatory financial proposals, the competent service of the Church of Greece will make a decision on the concessionaire during May.

The planned new hotel block will add luxury infrastructure to Thessaloniki at a time when demand for travel to the capital is on the rise as it becomes the city’s getaway destination, also helped by the recent upgrades and expansion of Macedonia Airport. .
