Athens Stock Exchange: Listed companies with record profitability in 2022

An explosion in profitability and an overall strong image show the results of companies listed on the Athens Stock Exchange, and stock analysts believe that they will achieve higher profitability not only compared to the pre-pandemic era, but also in 15 years from 2007, when the profit was generated in the amount of 11.3 billion euros.

Listed companies will pay out this year… between 2.4 and 2.6 billion euros in dividends, the highest since 2009, the year before the great financial crisis.

The profitability explosion is also due to the fact that there was a series of important investments that were not made in the previous decade – due to the problems that the Greek economy faced – and began to pay off in 2022, after a two-year period of problems due to the pandemic.

This is also reflected in the exchange rate of the gross domestic product, as profitability and GDP are positively correlated globally and over time.

The Greek economy is on a growth trajectory (+5.9% in 2022) and the outlook for GDP growth in 2023 remains positive, higher than the European average.

Banks returned to a profitable trajectory in 2022 and posted a profit before tax of 4.57 billion euros against a loss of 4.44 billion euros in 2021. The net profit of the four systemically important banks for 2022 amounted to 3.269 billion euros.

OUR Alfa Bank announced a net profit after taxes of 398 million euros. OUR National announced an after-tax profit of 1.12 billion euros. Adjusted net income Eurobank “jumped” to 1.174 billion euros, while Piraeus announced adjusted net income of €577 million.

In this climate, there are listed companies that record historical performance either in terms of profitability or in terms of sales.

Among the listed companies that have already announced results, the following also show historical results:
