CFR Infrastructura has announced a tender for the procurement of design services and the implementation of works for the modernization of two sections between Craiova and Karancebes, on Highway 100, which has the fastest speed reduction in the last 25 years. Both lots have a total length of 83 km, and the value exceeds 2.5 billion lei.

What CFR SA says

The national railway company “CFR” SA has announced a tender for the procurement of design and implementation of modernization works on the sections Craiova – Filias (lot 1) and Filias – Igiroas (lot 2), related to the purpose of Craiova – Drobet Turnu Severin – Karancebes (225 km ).

The estimated total financial value of these contracts is from 2,543,299,367.07 lei without VAT to 2,781,973,710.56 lei without VAT, the source of financing is non-returnable external funds related to the Transport Program (PT) for 2021-2027.

The public procurement for the design and implementation of modernization works is divided into the following two lots with a total length of 82.24 km as follows:

LOT 1: Craiova (CAP X ) – Filashi (CAP Y), km 248+760 – 286+735 (37,975 km)

Estimated value: from 1,400,738,775.27 lei without VAT to 1,532,190,232.35 lei without VAT

Duration of design and execution of works: 54 months (12 months of design and 42 months of execution of works)

LOT 2: Filiasi (CAP Y) – Igiroasa (CAP Y), km 286+735 – 331+000 (44,265 km)

Estimated value: from 1,142,560,591.80 lei without VAT to 1,249,783,478.21 lei without VAT

Duration of design and execution of works: 60 months (12 months of design and 48 months of execution of works)

  • improving the infrastructure to increase the speed of traffic to values ​​from 120 km/h to 160 km/h;
  • modernization of electrical installations along the entire length of the site (25 kV);
  • increase in transit capacity;
  • ensuring compatibility by implementing STI, especially with regard to axle load (22.5 t), dimensions (C), length of lines at stations and traffic stops, facilities for the disabled;
  • modernization of stations and stops;
  • modernization of bridges, paths
  • reconstruction/modernization of passenger station buildings, including the construction of pedestrian bridges and/or pedestrian tunnels, raising the level of platforms, in accordance with current European standards;
  • installation of sound-absorbing panels and/or alternative solutions for noise reduction;
  • new installations of electronic centralization at stations and implementation of the ERTMS security system (ETCS level 2 + GSM-R);
  • reduction of the maximum value of the slope in areas where it exceeds 18 ‰
