A slight recovery was noted in November 2022 in overall construction activity. According to her Hellenic Statistical Office (ELSTAT), issued in the form of 2,518 building permits, which corresponds to 580,370 sq.m. area and 2,598,304 cubic meters of volume, which means a 9% increase in allows, by 1.4% in area and 2.1% in volume compared to the corresponding month of 2021. Accordingly, private construction amounted to 2,493 building permits, which corresponds to 571,961 sq.m. area and 2,552,128 sq.m. volume, showing an 8.3% increase in building permits, a 0.3% increase in area, and a 0.8% increase in volume. It is worth noting that in the previous month, that is, in October 2022, a decrease in volume by 24.3% and area by 16.6% was recorded in private construction.

During November, Attica experienced a 12.9% volume increase and a 4% increase in building permits, while area saw a 3.4% decrease. At the same time, Thessaly with 68.8%, Epirus with 54.7%, Central Greece with 47.3%, Central Macedonia with 35% and the South Aegean with 35.3% also recorded a significant increase in volume. In Crete, on the contrary, a drop of 60.1% was recorded.

In general, for the 11th month of 2022 (January-November), total construction activity shows an increase in the number of permits by 3.9%, but a decrease in area by 11.9% and volume by 6.7% compared to the corresponding period. 2021. Accordingly, over the same period, private construction shows an increase in the number of building permits by 3.5%, a decrease in area by 12.8% and a decrease in volume by 7%.
