The president of the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF), Lucian Heusch, said on Thursday that data is already coming in from courier companies that are starting to submit 395 declarations – there are “some big question marks, some red flags”, which he stressed that in online commerce everything there are still many things wrong.
“I cannot and cannot afford, with approximately 600 anti-fraud inspectors, to spend time starting and counting at the corner of the shop how much money is in the cash register and not seeing if RO-eTransport is being checked, those we know tax evaders, took or did not take a code if they registered their invoices, regardless of the data that they are already coming to us, from companies that are couriers and that are already starting to file the 395 declaration We already have some big signs questions, some of the red flags that have been lit there that there are still a lot of things that are wrong with this online commerce, without looking at other areas where there is big, big tax evasion – and where maybe from different not enough reasons have been made – and this is where we should go. But, at the same time, don’t let anyone think that we’re out of the loop and what’s going on, everyone has to understand you whether you’re younger or older, you have to respect the laws of this country – and that’s also good for you as a company.” – said Lucian Heyush at the annual tax conference of PwC in Romania.
In his opinion, the higher the quality of the tax audit documents, the more the phenomenon of tax evasion will be counteracted.
“The more we manage to make the tax inspection more efficient, the better the quality of tax inspection documents will be, the more the phenomenon of tax evasion will be counteracted and, implicitly, voluntary compliance will increase. I do not agree with what has happened or is happening in many situations – let’s run after the one who evades taxes. Let him keep doing it, let’s keep running to catch him, maybe we’ll catch him, maybe we won’t. It is not normal. We need to create some structural mechanisms that prevent tax evasion and, at the same time, understand that whoever is inclined to do it or thinks about it, we are ready to catch him physically when it happens – and when he does it and identifies it, either through the means allowed by the tax code, the procedural code, or by monitoring physical tax incomes and identifying those who cannot justify their incomes. We must go through all these three channels to have an effective truth and reduce this phenomenon, which exists On the other hand, I don’t think he’s as big as we all like to say,” Lucian Geiusz also said.
