Of course, companies that are not included in the above obligations can also participate in the action. However, from the moment they join this initiative, they will have to implement it until it ends, that is, until Holy Saturday. The categories of goods that will be included in the “baptismal basket” will be determined later by the relevant decision of the ministry, but it is assumed that it will definitely include toys and candles.

The enterprises that will participate are obliged to place on the trading floor (shelf) of the goods participating in the “cross basket” a clear special sign, as well as a clear list of goods that make up the “basket”, in a conspicuous place. at the entrance to the store, where the prices at which goods are offered are indicated. In addition, they make sure that the products included in the “basket” are in sufficient quantities in their stores and are available to the consumer without interruption. For each violation, a fine of 1,000 to 10,000 euros is imposed. For the prices of the products constituting the “basket” offered by each company, article 58 of the Law 4818/2021 on unfair speculation applies accordingly, where the gross profit margin per unit of product cannot exceed the corresponding gross profit margin. per unit of production until December 1, 2021. The items on the list may vary each time a new list is submitted by debtors to the Ministry of Development and Investment.

Extension

Finally, under Article 49 of the same bill, the “household basket”, which began last November for supermarket products, is extended until June 30, 2023, while it normally ended on March 31, 2023.
