A few weeks ago, the third retail activity (after IKEA and Intersport) of the Fourlis group took place, as the first three stores of Holland & Barrett, a British chain specializing in nutritional supplements and health products, opened in Greece. .

The first three stores are located in Kifisia, Glyfada and Maroussi, in The Mall Athens, and in 2023 the Fourlis group plans to open three more stores, and the launch of an online store from the network in Greece is also expected in a month.

Piraeus, the eastern and western suburbs of Attica are areas where new store locations are being sought and market research is being conducted to expand Holland & Barrett’s chain to other cities in Greece. At the same time, the chain is gearing up to expand into Romania and Bulgaria, countries for which the Fourlis group also has brand development rights, with a premier likely in 2024. It is recalled that the original plan provided that in all three markets – Greece, Bulgaria, Romania – the group could develop up to 120 stores.

Of particular interest is the fact that on the shelves of the recently brought to Greece network, in addition to nutritional supplements and health products, there are organic products and cosmetics. Among the products that the chain lists are Bioagros organic products, Symbeeosis products (this is a company created by Nikos Koutsianas after the sale of Apivita), which includes organic honey, herbs and elixirs, Labbok organic Greek cosmetics, Zagori Water, but also Green Cola . The fact that the Fourlis group will develop Holland & Barrett stores also in Romania and Bulgaria means that through them the export of the above Greek goods will also be strengthened. The goal is to sell the above through online stores, which are also planned to be developed in Romania and Bulgaria. At the moment, there are 13,000 codes on the network, which will soon increase to 15,000. 40% of the available products are vitamins and nutritional supplements, about 28% are beauty products, 23% are food, and the remaining 9% are nutritional sports supplements.

Holland & Barrett is one of the world’s largest health and wellness retailers and the largest in Europe. The company was founded in 1870 by Alfred Barrett and William Holland, who originally sold food and clothing. In 2007, the company was acquired by the American group NBTY, and in 2008 a strategy of expansion through franchising was launched. In 2010, the Carlyle Group acquired NBTY Group, and with it Holland & Barrett, and in 2017 the chain was acquired by L1 Retail. Now he has more than 1600 stores.
