
More than 12,000 new cars were registered in January, up 31% from the first month of 2022, and electric vehicles passed the 1,000-unit mark, according to APIA. Which models performed best in a market where SUVs have a 39% market share?
Dacia had almost 40% of the market, followed by Renault (10% of the market), a brand that did not have a very good year in 2022. Hyundai, Toyota and Volkswagen closed the top 5. 6-10 places were taken by Skoda, Ford, Mercedes, BMW and Suzuki.
The most popular model was Dacia Logan, which sold 1,500 units, and Duster and Sandero exceeded 1,000 units. Renault Clio found 533 buyers, and the electric Dacia Spring was in 5th place.
Dacia Jogger, Renault Megane, Hyundai Tucson, Hyundai i30 and Toyota Corolla completed the top 10.
The share of diesel cars was 12%, and fully electric cars – about 9%. Of the 1,069 electric cars, almost half are Dacia, 146 are Volkswagen and 88 are Tesla. In addition to Spring, the leaders in sales of electric cars were Volkswagen e-Up!, Renault Megane E-Tech, Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y.
