Specializing in industrial solutions for electrification and renewable energy storage systems, Sunlight is further expanding its international focus. The company, owned by Olympia Group, has acquired 51% of the Israeli company Israel Industrial Batteries (IIB) Energy Storage Systems, strengthening its presence not only in the Israeli market, but also in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA region). . . . Working with Sunlight since 2014, IIB is a manufacturer and distributor of industrial batteries for various applications, dominating the Israeli market, with an automated lead acid battery plant for energy storage. IIB is a key supplier of telecommunications batteries and UPSs for clients such as the Israeli Ministry of Defense and telecommunications companies such as Bezeq (Israel’s national telecommunications organization), PHI, Hot Mobile and Motorola. Products include innovative batteries and advanced applications for the aviation industry, and the company has been active in renewable energy storage systems since 2004. Since 2020, the company has also been selling lithium-ion batteries for industrial electrification and energy storage, fast-growing industry segments around the world.
The agreement to acquire 51% of IIB’s share capital was signed in Tel Aviv in mid-January by Sunlight CEO Lambro Bisala and outgoing IIB CEO Andy Segal. The latter will remain with the company, supporting its further development as a 49% shareholder, as a non-executive chairman and advisor to new management, while Erez Pinto will take over as managing director and CEO. Both companies will continue their independent business operations, seeking partnerships and synergies to best serve the Israeli, Middle East and North African markets.
Israel Industrial Batteries is a leader in the Israeli market.
“This agreement further supports our goal of becoming the global leader in industrial batteries for supply chains and renewable energy storage systems. In addition, this acquisition will further strengthen and expand our geographic footprint in the MENA region and strengthen our human resources with experienced and dedicated employees,” said Mr. Bisalas. “The decision to join the Sunlight Group was a natural next step for us and we will use our synergy to further develop the two companies and achieve even greater success,” said Erez Pinto.
