The airports that contributed to the single-digit deviation in the total number of passengers in January this year compared to the corresponding month of 2019 are the airports of Kavala (-47%), Corfu (-39.2%) and Santorini (-23.3%)). . In single digits compared to the first month of 2019, there is a decrease in the number of passengers in “Macedonia”, which served 372,500 people (-4.2%), in Mytilene Airport, which had 22,800 thousand passengers (-2.9%), and in Aktion. airport (-2.6%).

However, at the remaining eight airports out of a total of 14, passenger traffic increased in the first month of this year compared to January 2019. Skiathos Airport posted a record growth in passengers, with 56% more people transported, rising to just over 1,300. Zakynthos Airport (+34.7%) took the baton in terms of passenger traffic growth, followed by Mykonos (+18, 7%), Chania (+12.8%), Samos (+9.5%), Kos (+6.3%), Rhodes (+5.6%). %) and Kefalonia (+4.4%).

In terms of flight work, it was 7% lower in January 2023 compared to the same month in 2019 and amounted to 6,354 flights at 14 regional airports. Mykonos Airport showed the largest increase in activity with 29.7% more flights compared to 2019. In contrast, Kavala Airport recorded the biggest decline with 45% fewer flights. According to the European Aviation Safety Agency (Eurocontrol), during the current week until March 25, the number of flights to Greece will be up to 40% more than in 2022.
