Compensation in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors

The Fisheries and Marine Operational Program (EPATh.) Special Management Service has announced that under Measure 3.4.3 – EPATh. 2014-2020, Action 2 Announced: “Financial compensation to fisheries and aquaculture operators for lost profits and additional costs incurred due to market disruption caused by Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine and its impact on the fisheries and aquaculture supply chain.”

According to the published call, this action supports operations that are part of the following sub-actions:

Sub-action (a): “Financial compensation of operators in the fishing sector”.

Sub-action (b): “Financial compensation for aquaculture operators”.

The assistance will be provided retroactively, and the eligibility of transaction costs included in the financial assistance in the context of the action applies to the period from February 24, 2022, that is, from the start of the Russian attack, to December 31, 2022.

Fisheries sector. The amount of assistance under sub-action (a) is calculated according to the characteristics of the fishing vessel for which the funding application is being submitted, as follows:

– Fishing vessels carrying and/or requiring VMS.

The amount of assistance is determined per day of fishing activity, based on the following:

– Motor trawlers

Length ≤ 24 m, compensation for the day of fishing 291 euros.

Length > 24 m, compensation for a day of fishing 385 euros.

– gris-gris

Length ≤ 18 m, compensation for a day of fishing 92 euros.

Length > 18 m and ≤ 24 m, compensation for a day of fishing 149 euros.

Length > 24 m, compensation for the day of fishing 184 euros.

– So

Length ≤ 6 m, compensation for a day of fishing 6 euros.

Length > 6 m and ≤ 12 m, compensation for the day of fishing 9 euros.

Length > 12 m, compensation for the day of fishing 77 euros.

It should be noted that if the same vessel uses more than one fishing gear (on the basis of a fishing license), the shipowner selects one fishing gear, and the amount of financial support is calculated based on it.

– Fishing vessels that do not have and are not required to have VMS. The amount of assistance is determined once depending on the length of the boat as follows:

Boats ≤ 6 meters long, one-time compensation 474 euros.

Boats > 6 and ≤ 12 meters in length, one-time compensation of EUR 1350.00.

aquaculture sector. The amount of assistance under sub-action (b) is calculated per beneficiary and amounts to 150 euros for each ton of fish feed that:

“It was supplied either as a finished product or as a mixture of raw materials suitable for the purpose of its manufacture.

– Spent in the context of its production process within the allowed validity period.

It is noted that the maximum volume of certified fish feed (in tons) per recipient cannot exceed 220% of the sum of the nominal capacity of operated productive fish farms.

The volume of fish feed (in tons) per beneficiary is verified based on invoices and fish feed processing documents issued within a reasonable period on his behalf (February 24, 2022 to December 31, 2022).

The maximum amount of assistance depending on the size of the business is:

Micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) up to 700,000 euros.

Other enterprises (larger than small and medium-sized businesses) up to 2,000,000 euros.

As stated in the published data, the promotion is applied throughout Greece with an aid intensity of 100% of the eligible costs. The total budget of the invitation is 51,335,000 euros.
