Acquisition of a company and a new production unit for Gefsinos.

Gefsinous is very close to acquiring a majority stake in the catering company, one of the main players in Northern Greece in the catering sector. According to absolutely reliable information, Gefsinos, the company with a leading share in the industrial food industry in Greece, is going to acquire 60% of North Hellate, the final signing of the corresponding agreement is expected next week.

The acquisition, as well as the new ready-to-eat meal facility that Gefsinos is building in the Sindos industrial area, is essentially a means of expanding the company in Northern Greece as well as the Balkans. With regard to the latter especially, Gefsinous will seek to leverage its existing customer network, which includes large groups with subsidiaries in the Balkan region, mainly in Romania and Bulgaria. In fact, this does not exclude cooperation with supermarket chains in the Balkans.

In the context of the agreement with the Nordic company Helladic, which has an annual sales of 10-12 million euros, the use of its production unit is not included. The center of production will be the Gesinos Ready Meal Facility in Sindos, which is expected to be completed in July and fully operational in September 2023. New building with an area of 3500 sq.m. it is an investment of 6 million euros.

Including the above acquisition, the investments planned by Gefsinos for 2023 amount to a total of 15 million euros, and also include the replacement of the company’s fleet of vehicles with new electric motors, the installation of new mechanical equipment at the Krioneri plant, a budget of 2 million euros, as well as further expansion “Gefsinos” in retail trade. Since November last year, Gefsinous has been operating the MyMarket store in Kato Kifisia, with plans to expand the partnership to other MyMarket stores. In addition, he has a partnership with another leading supermarket company, on whose behalf he prepares ready meals.

The company being acquired by Gefsinos is an industrial catering company and one of the major players in Northern Greece.

The company has also started installing photovoltaic systems at Krioneri, and now 40% of the energy consumed is generated by them, which represents half a million euros of investment.

“After two years 2020-2021, when we received a strong blow, we have dynamically recovered in 2022, and I believe that 2023 will be a landmark year for Gefsinos. It will be a year of investment,” Mr. Vassilis Zervas, who has taken over as Group CEO since January 1, 2023, and was previously CFO of Gefsinos, told K. In 2022, the group’s turnover was at 65 million euros and EBITDA at 5 million euros, with a target for 2023 of a turnover close to 74 million euros.

In the medium term, the company plans to make more active use of its ready meals factory in Crete. The small enterprise in question is mainly engaged in the production of school meals, but it is possible that after making the necessary investments it can be used in cooperation with the tourism industry. What Gefsinos management is now considering is infiltrating hotels, and they are already in talks with the group that has all-inclusive hotel rooms to take over their kitchens. In fact, the installation of additional equipment at the Kryoneri plant is mainly for this reason, and depending on the development of cooperation, investments will also be made in Crete.

Since January 1, 2023, the company has continued to increase wages, and the minimum wage is 800 euros (gross), and has also introduced staff training programs.

Finally, in the context of the organizational changes of the group, Mr. C. Antóniou took the position of Executive Vice President, Ms. V. Vavourakis – the position of Deputy Financial Director, from the Director of Financial Management, Mr. Sp. Andrikopoulos, from director of supply, also takes over the group’s sales department, while Mr. K. Tsagarakis takes over the day-to-day management of the group’s stores. “Gefsinous” was founded in 1992, and its customers include large enterprises, educational institutions, TV stations, etc.
