Another step towards becoming … a “Greek Amazon” was taken Skrutzlike now online shopping platform Skroutz Marketplace has the ability to supply products to all countries of the Eurozone. The first step was taken last fall when the company began shipping to Cyprus, followed by a pilot program to ship products to Germany, targeting mainly Greeks living there, and the Skroutz Marketplace is now available, including Greece and Cyprus, in 20 countries.

Specifically, the 18 new countries to which items purchased on the Skroutz Marketplace can now be shipped are: Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Portugal, Malta, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands. , Lithuania, Slovenia, Slovakia and Latvia. In the next step, EU countries will be added. that are not part of the euro area.

The next important step for the internationalization of the Marketplace is the translation of the platform into English, which is currently being worked on by the Skroutz people. When this is achieved, many more consumers from countries outside of Greece will actually be able to shop, not just Greeks living in other European countries or those who speak Greek. Regarding the reaction received to the news when it was posted by Skroutz co-founder G. Hatzigeorgiou on his LinkedIn account, countries such as Sweden and Denmark, Norway and the UK were asked to subscribe.

Profits from expanding outside of Greece are seen as particularly important for both Skroutz and partner stores, who have been unable to ship overseas and now have the opportunity to make their products available to consumers in Europe, adding another sales channel to their potential.

The results of the missions in Cyprus are indicative. The number of Skroutz Marketplace partner sellers that support shipments to Cyprus today stands at 14,700, while the number of orders from Cyprus reaches, according to classified information, 20,000. However, due to the increase in orders from Cyprus, it is possible that in the future the company will look for warehouses in Cyprus, informed market players note.

Giannis Alivisatos, Chief Operating Officer of Skroutz, said: “This is another big step in the implementation of our strategy. Providing product delivery service to consumers in all 20 European countries opens a new era for Skroutz. This is a way for consumers in Europe to enjoy the trust of the Skroutz Marketplace and for Greek businesses to find a way into the European market. Our goal is always a seamless shopping experience for consumers at all stages, making online shopping easier and safer.”

Recall that in 2022, a total of 7.1 million orders were made on the Skroutz Marketplace.
