Greece-Japan: Double Taxation Agreement in Principle

The governments of Greece and Japan have agreed in principle to proceed with the conclusion of the Double Taxation Convention (DTA), as announced Ministry of Finance.

The convention aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in tax matters, eliminating double taxation with respect to taxes on income without creating opportunities for non-taxation or for the reduction of taxation through tax evasion or evasion.

Thus, according to the Ministry of Finance, an additional impetus is expected to be given to investment and economic transactions between Greece and Japan.

The convention will be signed after the completion of the necessary internal procedures by the governments of the two states. It will then enter into force after completion of the established national procedures in each country.

The Prime Minister, accompanied by a Greek delegation, was received by Director Toshiaki Higashihara (Chairman and CEO of Hitachi) and spoke with members of Keidanren.
