
CFR SA has announced that it has launched a tender for the first stage of the modernization of the Northern Railway Station, a project included in the PNRR, with a total cost of 471 million lei (excluding VAT). The North Railway Station is in dire need of modernization, they have been talking about it for 15 years. Projects worth a billion euros and a complete relocation of the station were also proposed.
The project also provides for the modernization of lighting devices, which is absolutely necessary, because with the onset of darkness there is very little light on the platform.
The deadline for submitting offers at public tenders (PUTT) is March 6, 2023.
What CFR SA says
Stage 1 – design and implementation of works on the modernization of the largest railway station in Romania – Bucharest North Station – through the consolidation of facades, roofs, installations and arrangement of public spaces in 3 buildings of the building:
Building A (buildings on Dinik Golescu Boulevard)
Building B (center, columns, first-class ticket offices)
Building C (2nd class ticket office, Calea Griviței)
Objectives:
- modernization/consolidation/reconstruction of buildings at the Bucharest-Nord passenger station
- modernization of places intended for travelers, including for people with disabilities;
- provision of elements of safety and comfort for travelers – railings, ramps for people with disabilities, elevators, access control systems;
- creation of central green zones with a waiting area for public transport;
- regeneration of the area connected to the Gara de Nord passenger station according to the principles of a smart city/creative city/green city;
- new ventilation/heating systems;
- modernization of the lighting system and electrical, sanitary-technical, thermal and other installations;
- modernization of the information system for travelers and telecommunications equipment
Estimated cost: 471 million lei (without VAT)
Funding source: PNRR
Design and execution of works: 55 months (9 months of design and 46 months of execution)
