The first all-electric Jeep, the Avenger, has been named “Car of the Year 2023 in Europe” after a vote by 57 journalists from over 20 countries. Volkswagen ID Buzz was in second place, and Nissan Ariya was in third place.

Last year, the victory was won by the Kia EV6, and in 2021 – the Toyota Yaris. The 2011 Nissan Leaf was the first electric car to receive the title, which was first awarded in 1964.

In the 2023 edition, the Jeep Avenger received 328 points, and the Volkswagen ID Buzz received 241 points. Nissan Ariya scored 211 points. Kia Niro was fourth, Renault Austral was fifth, and Peugeot 408 was sixth. The last place was taken by two models that have a lot in common: Subaru Solterra and Toyota bZ4X.

Scores were given by 57 journalists from 23 countries. In previous years, there were 61 journalists, but Russian journalists were excluded from the jury.

The announcement of the vote was made public at the Brussels International Motor Show.

The award was first presented in 1964, when it was awarded to the Rover 2000 model.

The Jeep brand has never won a title or finished on the podium.
