The Winter Sale starts on Monday, January 9th and runs through February 28th. The Hellenic Business and Retail Association (SELPE) said in a statement that on the first Sunday of the sales, that is, January 15, shops will be open throughout the territory from 11 am. until 20:00 “During the winter sales, retailers will offer a wide range of products at very low prices, with impeccable service and respect for the consumer,” emphasizes SELPE.
The Hellenic Consumer Workers Union has released a helpful guide with five tips for consumers during the winter sales:
• Conduct market research and check not only the price (original and new), but also the quality of the product. Also, search online for the price of the product they are about to select by code or model number so they can be sure that the price they find is the best.

• Determine their needs and make a list of purchases they are going to make that will fit their personal or family budget, avoiding rash spending.
• Be aware of the details and terms of the transaction when buying goods in installments. Always be aware of the terms and conditions of a particular purchase, especially when purchasing with a credit card.
• Items must have an original price and an offer price (not a discount percentage). Caution! Offers often state that no change is being made, so if they regret it, they can’t change.
• Always ask for a receipt for purchased products. If the product is defective and they want to return or exchange it, proof is required.
