Starting January 9th, the acceptance of applications for joining the action begins. “green taxis”, in order to promote the electrification of the taxi fleet. The €40 million program is expected to replace some 2,000 old and polluting taxis with new, all-electric taxis. The new program provides taxi owners with the opportunity to subsidize the purchase or lease of a purely electric car, as well as the purchase, optionally, of installing a smart charging point.

The subsidy (environmental bonus) is 40%, with a maximum amount of 17,500 euros, and the mandatory withdrawal of a taxi car is rewarded with 5,000 euros. Particular attention is also paid to the disabled, families with 3 or more dependent children and young people under 29 with a separate surcharge for each category. With applications submitted on the electronic platform https://prasinataxi.gov.gr, which will be put into operation before January 9, the beneficiaries of the program are all owners of taxi cars of category ElJR05 and older, on the basis of a registration license. Owners are considered to be those who own 100% of the vehicle registration license, and in case of more than one holder of shares in the license (co-owners – co-owners), the application is submitted by all beneficiaries.

Every beneficiary is entitled to it buying or leasing One clean, zero-emission CO2 electric vehicle (BEV) per license, subject to decommissioning and destruction of the old vehicle.

The cost eligibility start date is December 1, 2021, which excludes costs associated with the prepayment of a vehicle order.

For fully electric vehicle (BEV) taxis, the subsidy is 40% of the pre-tax retail price, up to a maximum of €17,500, with a mandatory deduction of €5,000. The purchase of a smart charging point for electric vehicles for installation in a residential environment or in a corporate parking lot with private access is subsidized in the amount of 500 euros. As part of the Green Taxi program, “we are helping 2,000 professional drivers by supporting each of them with 22,500 euros to replace their old car with a new, purely electric one,” said Environment and Energy Minister Kostas Skrekas. .

“We have been faithfully and consistently following our plan since 2020, having already achieved tangible and significant results reflected in the registration of electric vehicles, which for the third year in a row exceed the goals set by us in the national energy and climate plan,” the general said.
