The tender for the supply of a foreign card acceptance system for the AADE EFT/POS network and e-POS of the General Secretariat of Information Systems is already underway, and interested parties have a deadline for submitting proposals until January 5, 2023. Picilis speaking to expats in the US, he announced that starting next April, the Independent Revenue Service will also accept debt payments from foreign bank cards and that a special section in Greek and English will be created on the AADE website in the first half of 2023. dedicated to the Greeks abroad.

According to data provided by G. Pitsilis, more than 141,000 individuals residing in the US have tax identification numbers in Greece. Of these, over 51,000 have Greek citizenship and 87,000 have American citizenship. These individuals pay real estate and income taxes in Greece, which together exceed 74 million per year.

Paying taxes with foreign cards will also free the hands of Greeks who live abroad and want to settle tax debts in our country, such as paying taxes on real estate or chattels they inherited in Greece.

A tender is being held for the supply of a system for accepting foreign cards in the EFT/POS AADE network.

The purpose of the tender project is to conclude an agreement between AADE and a legally licensed payment service provider that will accept and clear transactions on behalf of AADE using cards issued by foreign payment service providers. Applicants must present cards with signs of international card organizations VISA, Mastercard and China Union Pay. Optionally, they will serve cards marked by international organizations Diners and American Express. All individual types of cards (debit, credit, prepaid, virtual, business/corporate, etc.) are included in the brand of the organization of the international payment card system. Tenders will open on January 13, 2023, with a total contract value of EUR 1.25 million and a one-year term.

As stated in the tender announcement, if the existing POS and E-POS systems are chosen, any work to set up the system must be completed within 60 calendar days from the date of signing the contract. In case the contractor decides to create new POS and e-POS systems, any installation, configuration and interconnection of the systems must be completed within 120 calendar days from the date of signing the contract.
