Finance Minister Adrian Caciu says he has had accounts in Romanian banks since he got his card and is urging Romanians: buy Romanian! He said this after George Simion, the leader of the AUR, asked him if he could take the initiative to cut off the state from gas stations and bank accounts with Austrian capital without joining Schengen.
“In view of Romania’s non-accession to Schengen, do you, as the Minister of Finance, in any way envisage an initiative to reduce, stop the supply of public institutions from Austrian gas stations, as well as the accounts of some institutions and some of your colleagues in Austrian banks?”, – said Simion in the joint budget and finance committee of the parliament.
Adrian Caciu replied: “I have had accounts in Romanian banks, not since I was a minister, but since I had the card. On the other hand, we need to find a solution to get past the emotional part. We need a strong banking system. I can only call, as I have always said, to all Romanians: buy Romanian!”
