​CFR Infrastructura reported that a contract worth 2.41 billion lei was signed for the development of a technical project and the implementation of electrification and modernization works for 46 km of the railway, from Aleszd to the border with Hungary. The fastest trains travel on this section at an average speed of 67 km/h, and the slowest at 33 km/h.

The site is part of Highway 300, Bucharest – Brasov – Cluj – Oradea – Diocese of Bihor.

The national railway company CFR SA announces that on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, a contract worth 2.41 billion lei was signed for the development of the technical project and the implementation of the electrification and modernization of the railway infrastructure and superstructure for Lot 4 Alesd. – Frontieră, related to the investment objective “Electrification and rehabilitation of the railway line Cluj-Napoca – Oradea – Bishopric of Bihor (166.2 km)”, financed by grants provided for in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Component 4 – Sustainable transport.

Association WEBUILD SPA – IMPRESA PIZZAROTTI&C SPA – SALCEF SPA will develop a technical project and carry out work on the electrification and modernization of the railway infrastructure and superstructure for a maximum speed of 160 km/h on the Alesd – Frontieră section, 46.74 km long, construction work on the Tileagd stations, Oradea Est, Oradea and Episcopia Bihor, Oșorhei stop, 4 stops – Șețchea, Telechiu, Săbolciu and Săcădat -, modernization of works of art – 9 bridges and 17 pedestrian bridges, rehabilitation of 6 underpasses, 2 new underpasses, in Tileagd and Oradea, automatic signaling systems at 17 level crossings, special railway operational works, as well as signaling works due to the implementation of the ERTMS system (ETCS level 2 and GSM-R) along the entire route, including the doubling of the 18 km line.

In addition, as part of the works related to the ALEȘD – FRONTIERĂ section, the following public and railway objectives are included:

– 7 pedestrian crossings at CF Tileagd, Episcopia Bihor, Hm Oșorhei stations and at Țețchea, Telechiu, Săbolciu and Săcădat stops

– new passenger building at Oradea Est station;

– reconstruction of the underground pedestrian crossing from Oradya station;

– sound-absorbing panels on a total length of 20,515 km;

– new repair building at the Oradea station;

– the electrification center at the Oradea station;

– loading and unloading ramps at Tileagd, Episcopia Bihor and Hm Oșorhei stations;

– a new traction substation near the Oradya station.

The duration of the contract worth 2.41 billion lei excluding VAT is 42 months, of which 6 months for design and 36 months for execution of works.
