A new record for the post-war period was set inflation for October in Germanywith the forecast of the Federal Statistics Service at the level of 10.4% and linking price growth with energy cost and when starting production costs.
It is significant that in September inflation reached 10%, while energy prices increased by 43% compared to the corresponding period in 2022, and food prices – by 20.3%. Consumer prices are also expected to rise this month by 0.9% compared to the previous month.
The Federal Statistical Office still expects prices to rise due to supply chain problems due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, but believes that reducing the VAT on natural gas from 19% to 7% will eventually contain prices. At the same time, there is a decrease in consumption due to a decrease in purchasing power and a widespread abandonment of real estate development. Detailed results of the period will be announced on November 11.
