The official opening of the Hellinikon project, the largest regeneration project in Europe, took place.
At an event held at the former Athens International Airport, his family Dr. Spirow I. Latsis and Managing Director of Lamda Development Odysseas Athanasiou welcomed Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, representatives of the political and religious leadership, local government and the business world. During the event, the Metropolitan of Glyfada Voula, Varis Vouliagmeni, Father Antonio performed the consecration, and a documentary film presented the past, present and future of Ellinikon.
The event was welcomed by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, noting: “Today, the prologue to a new era of the coastal front and Attica in general is being written, as the main part of the revival of Hellinikon also officially begins. One of the largest, if not the largest, urban development project in Europe, certainly an unprecedented project for our country.”
Dr. Spyros I. Latsis, speaking about investments, emphasized, among other things, the fact that the Hellinikon project is a project that brings together the majority of citizens, the three Greek governments and even local authorities. Elliniko is a project that concerns and is addressed to all citizens and guests of our country. The benefits of its development also extend to the weaker economic classes, emphasized Dr. Spiros Latsis in a live online communication. In this context, as he mentioned, among other things, part of the housing program will consist of apartment buildings, which buyers will pay both at current market prices and with a surcharge from Lamda Development and with long-term contracts with the banking system. Our goal is for everyone to enjoy the benefits of Hellinikon, said Sp. Latsis.
Lamda Development Director Mr. Odysseas Athanasiou said in his speech: “In an ever-changing international environment, there have been and will be many challenges, but this project fills us with passion because we believe this is a great opportunity for our country to be properly heard in everything the world. We are fully aware of our responsibility and strive to overcome all difficulties in order to create the best and most beautiful urban regeneration in Europe. Because it’s Greek. The work of all of us.
Mr. Athanasiou outlined the progress of individual projects of the largest urban redevelopment in Europe that is underway, as well as the first completed projects, such as the first part of the Metropolitan Park, the Park of Experiences, which has already been visited by a million citizens since last Christmas.
