Greek SMEs struggle every day to compete with numerous resources based on their human resource skills, flexibility and innovation. At the same time, the challenges they face, especially in the critical areas of finance and digital transformation, make the fight much more difficult.

In this dynamic and constantly evolving environment, innovation, flexibility and adaptability are key to the productivity and efficiency of SMEs. The entrepreneurial spirit of Greece is strong and creative, but it needs the necessary support to be able to produce and bear fruit in an international and highly competitive environment.

A particularly important tool for the development of SMEs, the Hellenic Development Bank’s Innovation Guarantee Fund – HDB, has for the first time become a catalyst for the development of Greek innovative processes and products. Hellenic Development Bank-HDB creates the first financial instrument that combines an 80% loan guarantee with a subsidy of up to 20% of the loan capital.

Through the expansion of existing cooperation with the Hellenic Development Bank (HDB) and participation in the Innovation Guarantee Fund, Attica Bank continues to be practically and essentially on the side of the business, organically and critically important for its future.

Thanks to the Innovation Guarantee program Attica Bank finance on particularly favorable terms and the possibility of a grant in case of achieving specific innovative criteria and applying ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) practices, innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, the nature of which promotes research and desires to create new innovative products or services or to improve existing existing products or services.

The Innovation Guarantee Fund operates as an independent financial unit within the Hellenic Development Bank-HDB, which acts as its manager. The Innovation Guarantee Fund provides guarantees to lending institutions to provide loans on favorable terms to enhance the competitiveness of innovative micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for the implementation of their investment plans aimed at research and innovation, as well as the possibility of providing a grant in case of achieving certain criteria for innovation and application of ESG practices.
