Skroutz: Deliveries of products to Cyprus have also begun

Now Skroutz is going abroad as the largest marketplace in Greece will also deliver orders to Cyprus. In fact, the intentions of the management, albeit in the long term, include expansion to countries other than Cyprus, so that the marketplace acquires a broad international character and – why not – turns into a “Greek Amazon”.

For now, however, the focus is on the Cypriot market with the aim of increasing the number of traders from Greece who supply products to Cyprus and, on the other hand, creating a network of partner traders based in Cyprus so that Skroutz can deliver the goods the next day after ordering. (delivery next day).

Shipment of products to Cyprus began on an experimental basis at the end of July, and now cooperation with Cypriot traders is starting in parallel. To date, the number of companies sending goods from Greece to Cyprus through the Skroutz Marketplace, according to information from Kathimerini, reaches 3,000, but this number is increasing almost daily.

Mr. Yiannis Alivisatos, Chief Operating Officer of Skroutz, commented: “The availability of product delivery services to Cypriot consumers opens up Skroutz’s presence in the Cypriot market. This is another step in our strategy to provide a seamless shopping experience for consumers at all stages, making online shopping easier and safer. The Cypriot market is of strategic importance to Skroutz and our next goal is to expand the network of merchants shipping to Cyprus as well as build a network of partners on the mainland so that our users can enjoy a uniform and better experience.”

As a reminder, Skroutz again took steps abroad, but in a different form, with the creation of two subsidiaries, in Turkey in 2013 (www.alve.com) and in England in 2015 (www.scrooge.co.uk). The moves, however, were unsuccessful, and Skroutz finally pulled out of both of these markets.

Skroutz was founded in Athens in 2005 and now employs over 700 people. The number of partner stores exceeds 12,000, and 8.5 million unique visits are registered monthly.
