Six months before the Contractor’s contractual obligations, the 12.5 km Thessaloniki-Polygirou Provincial Road Improvement Project, with a budget of EUR 30 million, was handed over to traffic with the participation of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Konstantinos Achillea Karamanlis note that: “not only did we bid, win the contract, and complete the project, but we also did something rare in the annals. Calling today a very important day for Halkidiki, Thessaloniki and Macedonia, Mr. Karamanlis recalled that the above-mentioned project has been “waterlogged” for more than ten years, and stressing that this is one of many ongoing and launched for a wider region, noted that it was funded by PEP Central Macedonia.

“This project is one of many that we are implementing in the wider region, because along with the metro in Thessaloniki, along with the road connection that we are finally doing with the port of the city, along with the overpass and all the railway projects that are launched, Macedonia and Thessaloniki are leaving yesterday behind,” said the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, stressing that this is a project with a total budget of more than 5 billion euros. “We are talking about projects that are not on the map, but which have been implemented and launched,” he stressed, congratulating all the competent authorities that “launched” the implementation of the Thermi-Galatista section on the Thessaloniki-Polygyrou highway with speed. provincial road.

The Deputy Regional Governor for Infrastructure of the Central Macedonia Region described the Termi Galatista site improvement project as a “very important site” for the Central Macedonia region. Paris Billas, stating that it is part of the Thessaloniki-Polygyros-Hersonissos Sithonia road axis that the region wants to build “to cope with increased traffic, especially during the summer months in an area that is developing rapidly for tourism and the need for transport is significant. This is the first step towards creating this axis.”

Today’s launch of the aforementioned project was also attended by Thermi Mayor Thodoros Papadopoulos, who, expressing satisfaction with the quick completion of the project, noted that at the same time the water supply network was relocated, which is an important intervention for the region.
