OUR vigorous the giant Gazprom said today that it had received a warning from the Russian authorities that the Portovaya compressor station, natural gas in Germany by pipeline Nord Stream 1no longer meets safety requirements. According to available information, the Portovaya station is now a “dangerous production facility” and cannot operate legally.
Last Friday, Gazprom announced that it had discovered an oil leak in the only working turbine at the Portovaya station and was forced to suspend natural gas supplies until repairs were completed. He even referred to Siemens Energy, which carried out the maintenance of the Nord Stream 1 turbines, that “the causes of an oil leak can only be ruled out by a specialized repair company.”
On Saturday, Siemens Energy said it was not tasked with doing the work and that the problem reported by Gazprom does not normally affect the operation of the turbine, noting that technicians can fix the leak on site. He even added that there are other free turbines at this station.
Today, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed Moscow’s position that the problems with Russian natural gas supplies are the result of Western sanctions.
Europe has accused Russia of “instrumenting” energy resources in response to Western sanctions imposed on it after the invasion of Ukraine.
