
O admin National Natural Gas System (DESFA) announced today that he has accepted cyber attack in terms of its IT infrastructure from cybercriminals who attempted to gain illegal access to electronic files and with a proven impact on the availability of certain systems and the possible leakage of a number of files and data. However, as noted in the announcement, Mr. DESFA “it was possible to ensure and continue the operation of the National Natural Gas System (ESF) in a safe and secure manner.”
It also emphasizes that the management ESF continues to function smoothly and DESFA continues to safely and adequately supply natural gas to all entries and exits from the country.”
The announcement details the following:
“O DESFA received cyber attack in terms of its IT infrastructure from cybercriminals who tried to gain illegal access to electronic files and with a confirmed impact on the availability of certain systems and the possible leakage of a number of files and data.
We managed to ensure and continue the operation of the National Natural Gas System (ESF) in a safe and secure manner. Control ESF continues to function smoothly and DESFA continues to safely and adequately supply natural gas to all points of entry and exit from the country.
We are investigating the root causes of the attack and have mobilized teams of technical and specialized experts to assist us in this matter and in getting systems back up and running as soon as possible. To protect our customers and partners, we have proactively disabled most of our IT services. We are gradually restoring our information and operating systems.
We have already informed all the competent authorities and organizations and continue to work closely with the Ministry of Digital Management, the Data Protection Authority, the Hellenic Armed Forces Electronic Crime Prosecutor’s Office, the General Staff of the National Protection (GEETHA), as well as with the Department of Environment and Energy and the Energy Regulatory Authority to address the issue and minimize any potential impact.
