In the second quarter of the year, there was an increase in the turnover of companies operating in all its branches. Greek economy. In particular, according to her Greek Statistical Office, business turnover increased year on year by 39.3%, to 111.2 billion euros. The largest increase in turnover in the amount of 128.8% in the second quarter was demonstrated by enterprises in the field of tourism and catering, which is associated with strong growth in the hotel sector in the spring. The turnover of individual companies in the second quarter was about 4 billion euros, compared to 1.7 billion euros in the corresponding period of 2021, which was affected by measures to contain the pandemic.

During the period under review, transport and warehousing enterprises also showed a significant increase in turnover – by 50%, to 5.8 billion euros. Also in the manufacturing industry, turnover increased by 45%, to 26.2 billion euros, while the corresponding increase in construction was 27.5%, to 3.1 billion euros. A 34% increase in turnover to 595 million euros was also demonstrated by the real estate management sector, linked to the booming construction industry.

The smallest increase in turnover (14.4%) was demonstrated by companies providing information and communication services, with a turnover of 3.4 billion euros. The largest decrease in turnover (-4.2%, to 607.5 million euros) was recorded in companies operating in the field of health and social care.

The largest increase in turnover was shown by enterprises in the field of tourism and public catering.

In June, compared to the same month in 2021, the turnover of companies with an obligation to keep double bookkeeping increased by 45.1%, to 34.3 billion euros. Hospitality and catering companies still hold the scepters of a 141.5% increase in turnover, to 1.2 billion euros. Manufacturing and construction increased turnover by about 50% and 32%, to 9 billion euros and 837 million euros, respectively. These two sectors recorded higher year-on-year turnover growth rates in May, with 56% and 51% for manufacturing and construction, respectively.

The lowest turnover growth rate of 0.5%, which in absolute terms corresponds to 76 million euros, was shown by mining companies in June in a monthly comparison. The largest decline was recorded in companies operating in the field of health and social care, whose turnover fell by 31.5%, to 125 million euros.
