The process of determining its increase will begin in January minimal salaryThis was announced by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Kostis Hatzidakis in the program of the SKAI TV channel.
According to him, consultations with social partners, scientific institutions, the Bank of Greece and KEPE will begin in early January 2023, after which the Minister of Labor will propose a minimum wage, taking into account the results of the consultation and the development of the economy as a whole. “We will study, on the one hand, the competitiveness of enterprises and the economy, and, on the other hand, the needs of employees. We don’t give anyone a monopoly on social sensibility,” said Mr. Hatzidakis.
Regarding the financial support of citizens, the Minister of Labor replied that the government is socially sensitive, and added that “for all that we have lived, we paid for it, and this is the government of the wrong school.”
Regarding housing policy, Mr. Hatzidakis spoke about the resumption of housing policy, noting that for many years there has not been a significant, centralized, coordinated housing policy.
According to him, the new housing policy will focus mainly on young couples, as the cost of housing is high, which creates pressure and increases demographic growth. “We will use all the tools and implement a modern housing subsidies policy,” he stressed.
Regarding pensions, the Minister of Labor stressed that pensions will be unlocked for everyone in 12 years and explained that pensioners will be granted a general increase that will depend on GDP growth and price index growth, while He recalled that from January 1, 2023 solidarity gathering is cancelled.
Among other things, Mr. Hatzidakis stated that the government has taken a serious and responsible approach to solving the main problems. “Unemployment fell from 17.3% to 12.1%. This is the result of a general government policy and despite the energy crisis, this year, again, not only because of tourism, we are predicted to have strong growth in Greece. This is the result of the general economic policy of the government,” the minister commented.
Finally, Mr. Hatzidakis noted that the unpaid basic pensions amount to 30,000, in addition to international ones, and will be considered immediately. As he noted, great efforts have been made to speed up the process of assigning upcoming pensions, which have already borne fruit.
