Share prices closed with a significant gain in today’s stock market session as the market topped the 890 level to close at more than two-month highs. Turnover also increased, reaching a satisfactory level for that time, while bank shares were at the center of investment interest.

The overall price index closed at 893.23, up 1.65%. This is the highest close since the June 8, 2022 session (893.82 points).

The value of the transactions amounted to EUR 81.16 million, of which EUR 24.482 million was related to block transactions, with 45,215,511 shares sold. The large-cap index rose 1.93%, while the mid-cap index rose 0.39%.

At more than two-month highs, the General Index closed at 893.23 with banks in the spotlight.

Of the highly capitalized stocks, Piraeus (+5.17%), Alpha Bank (+4.05%), TERNA Energy (+3.37%), Titan (+3.28%), PPC (+3.26%) %), ADMIE. (+3.10%) and OPAP (+3.02%). On the contrary, the shares of Motor Oil (-1.09%), Ellactor (-0.75%) and Aegean Airlines (-0.56%) recorded the largest decline.

European equities continued to rise yesterday for a fifth straight session, supported by strong mining performance and equities seen as insurance against economic uncertainty, although fears of a looming recession halted further gains.

On the opposite side of the Atlantic late last night and before the US market closed, the Dow Jones S&P 500 added 0.74% and 0.31%, respectively. The pan-European STOXX 600 ended yesterday’s session up 0.16%, with the FTSE 100 in London up 0.36%, the DAX in Frankfurt up 0.68%, the CAC 40 up 0.34% in Paris, the FTSE MIB up 0. .12% in Milan and 1.01. % IBEX in Madrid. Yesterday, the STOXX 600 hit a ten-week high. The mining sector led the way, gaining 3.2% on a 5.5% increase in the industry’s largest company, BHP. The euro exchange rate against the dollar did not change at the level of 1.0168 dollars.
