Taxation of dividends received by pension funds will lead to direct losses for any self-employed person in Romania, regardless of whether he is from the private sector or from the state, who will become a pensioner in the future, says the Association of Participants of Pension Funds (PFF).
Last week, HotNews.ro wrote that the government has taxed our private pensions through the Tax Increase Decree (OG 16/2022) and the changes will apply from 2023
The association believes that this reform needs to be corrected.
Referring to the discussions on the possible nationalization of the second level of pensions, APFP believes that the public statements of some political leaders who form the government coalition are alarming.
“The association of participants of pension funds thus signals that the messages regarding the improvement and improvement of the legislation and its implementation are not only desirable, but also necessary, but the transformation of these messages with the following practical actions regarding the revolutionization of the pension system is harmful,” – the cited source notes.
- In relation to the recent statements by politicians in the press about revolutionizing the system which has destabilized the public, we are campaigning for a stable, predictable and progressive path for changes to affect pension funds, and we want any changes to bring economic benefits to participants in long-term perspective, which must be discussed in detail with the representatives of the parties involved, based on a justification plan drawn up by professionals, which must be communicated transparently and implemented by the regulator in a way that can no longer give extremely unpleasant surprises in the financial environment of Romania, such as the recent ones from Astra Asigurari, City Asigurari, Harinvest or BRD Private Pension Fund Administration Society.
