Kia announced this news a few days ago Kia K4compact luggage sedan, the world premiere of which will take place at the New York Auto Show 2024. If the latter is intended for the American market, then Kia K4 5DR (for “5 doors”, or “5 doors” in French) is its hatchback and five-door version: it should be launched on the European market, since replacement for Kia Ceedalso known as Kia K3 or Forte.

A compact 5-door version of the hatchback has been revealed

The current generation Kia Ceed was actually launched in 2018, then it benefited from a facelift in mid-2021. Its replacement is now expected in Europe and should adopt the lines of the 5-door Kia K4.
Like its trunk version, this new Kia K4 5DR features an assertive and aggressive design that matches the brand’s latest productions, the EV9 at the forefront. On the front we find a sports shield accompanied by a LED light signature T-shaped: it repeats the L-shaped shape of the taillights, which visually expands the car and gives it a more futuristic look after hitting the road.
The design of this 5-door version is a little more uniform at the rear: we find a small styling tip is to paint part of the rear pillars black to make “floating” roof. The rear fenders are muscular and the rear door handles are hidden, giving it an even sportier look.

Kia K4 5DR: modern and technological

Under the hood, the US version offers a gasoline engine 2.0 L developing 147 horsepower and 179 Nm of torque, linked to an IVT continuously variable transmission. The second 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine develops 190 horsepower and 264 Nm of torque, associated with an 8-speed automatic transmission. However, we have to find on the European version different enginesadapted to the market of the Old Continent and its stricter rules: gasoline, hybrid or even 100% electric.

Kia K4 and Kia K4 5DR will be presented at New York Auto Show 2024which will open its doors to the public from March 29 to April 7, 2024. They will go on sale in the United States during the second half of 2024. The replacement of the European Kia Ceed should take place in 2025.
