Auto: what will change on April 1, 2024 News Auto Plus in your smartphone

Every year, a lot changes regarding the rules for motorists. And this time, the new measure will come into effect on April 1.

April 1: new rule

Nothing to do with a joke or an April Fool’s joke, of course, especially since this time it’s good news for motorists. But what are we talking about here? Well, quite simply the end of the mandatory sticker on the windshield of your car! It is not for nothing that the green card and auto insurance sticker will now be replaced by “note about car insurance” the insurers sent. And in fact, this event has several goals, the first of which is ecology. Once the contract is concluded, all information will be recorded in a centralized file: the vehicle insurer’s (FVA) file. This file stores all important data about your vehicle and your contract. The police will have direct access to it during road checks. In addition to simplicity, this reform aims to reduce costs. Sending out 50 million green stickers each year costs insurers around €60 million. By eliminating this process, 1200 tons of CO2 released into the atmosphere will be preserved.

April 1: a profitable measure

But that’s not all, because another advantage of the disappearance of the green card and insurance sticker is the fight against fraud. The Insured Vehicle Reminder ensures that every driver is well protected and law enforcement can check everything directly in centralized file. In addition, you no longer risk being fined if you do not present a green sticker or an insurance certificate for your vehicle. Which will also allow you to save some space in your wallet. But be careful, this does not mean that the driver can relax! The obligation to insure the vehicle remains unchanged. When you sign up, you will receive this memo, valid throughout the entire term of the contract, with all the necessary information. By the way, driving without insurance is a crime and you risk very serious penalties, including one a fine of 3,750 euros as well as complete deprivation of driver’s license. Not to mention the financial consequences in the event of an accident, especially if it results in death or serious disability.

In summary, the green card and auto insurance sticker are giving way to a more modern and efficient system. A small revolution that simplifies our lives and contributes to the preservation of our planet.
